About Me
- Name: sostulsa
- Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
Secular Organizations for Sobriety (or Save Our Selves) is dedicated to providing a path to drug abstinence, an alternative to those paths depending on supernatural or religious beliefs. SOS was founded to provide a neutral ground where alcoholics and addicts can safely explore a secular path to recovery. We respect recovery in any form, no matter which path achieves it. Our focus is on the priority of abstaining from all mind-altering drugs.

I am fascinated with AA in Tulsa, because there is also so many people that come in there with the idea that "Spiritual".. has to do with Religion.. (especially Christianity). They come to meetings, and talk about how their higher power is Jesus etc... The fact is: In order to recover from alcoholism, something you believed was wrong, dead wrong!! It requires a Phsycic change.. or change something about what you react to, or believe.. I get really frustrated with the "so called" Lord's Prayer.. the reality of that prayer is: People asked Jesus to tell them how do you find God.. and he said to say this prayer..!! He didn't say that was the only way.. he basically just said to pray.. of course, the Lords prayer basically talks about Spiritual Principles.. Trust in God, and be reverent, (course I don't believe in worshiping anything).. it then talks about heaven (which I can take it or leave it) it's out of my control, and I have no proof of it, that's where I leave Christianity,..right there. Then it talks about turning your will over to a higher power,.. it then talks about being forgiving, as well as forgiving others for being ignorant.. and stop the temptations of "self-destruction".. and I personally don't have any trouble relating evil to self-destruction.. (7 deadly sins, for example) and then it refers to God as having the power that I just don't have to stop myself from it.. I don't like the way it refers to going to heaven.. or whatever, because that is just like the Arab religion.. 72 virgins or something.. (I hope you got my joke with the 72 nuns standing there with guns).. and it said "Surprise"!!
I'm thru preaching for now.. but, you can change what you believe to make it work for you correctly.. Tommy M
